Alcohol INjection
All of these installations are to be performed at your own risk!!!!
An alky kit is used for additional safety when running high levels of horse power. For my kit I chose the one from East Coast Supercharging. ECS has excellent customer services and excellent products. For any additional info you can contact Chris or Doug and they will be happy to assist you. This kit will allow you to run some extra horsepower without running too lean and more importantly keeping knock away when you are running pump gas. The instructions below closely follow the ones provided in the kit as they are excellent!
Step 1 (Modifying your Washer Resevoir):
The windshield washer tank will need to be modified into the thank that will hold your methanol. This makes for a clean install and you don't have to worry about finding a place to mount another tank. You must first drill a 3/4" hole in the bottom of the tank at its lowest point and install the supplied fitting with the kit. A wood drill bit will work fine as you are going through thin plastic. I removed my level sensor just so I wouldn't damage it with the drilling. You must install the fitting in a particular order. Install the main body of the fitting with the teflon washer from the inside of the tank out. Once it is through install the stat-o-seal washer, then the stainless washer, then the nut. Once the nut is threaded, tighten the assembly. To do this, I put a long zip tie through the cap opening and into the hole that I drilled. I then slid the fitting down to the hole. Install the 90 and attach the 14" long -6AN hose to the fitting. I installed the fitting so it would be pointing towards the windshield which is where I mounted the pump. Pull the pump from the bottom and install the plug.
Now is a good time to make sure it does not leak. Put your level sensor back in if you removed it. Fill the tank with some water (while blocking the end of the hose with your thumb) and check for any leaks around the fitting and plug. Drain water.
Turn the tank over and drill a 3/8" hole into the cap and press the vent in.
Step 2 (Mounting the Pump):
Install the 90 degree fitting on the inlet side of the pump, this will be the larger of the two supplied fittings. The top of the pump is marked with the flow direction. Now install the smaller 90 degree fitting on the outlet side of the pump. Don't tighten these too much as you can break the plastic housing on the pump. Per the instructions, the rule of thumb is to tighten by hand then one full turn.
The pump mounting location is behind the splash guard located in the driver's side front fenderwell area. It is best to jack the car off and take your wheel off to get full access to this area. The splash guard bolts are 7mm. Use the four supplied self tapping screws to mount the pump. Attach the ground to one of these bolts before drilling so that the pump will be grounded. Place your resevoir back in the car and attach the short feed hose to the inlet side of the pump. The longer 22" section of hose will go to the outlet side and route up by the master cylinder and down the frame rail. You can zip tie it to the existing wire harness that is there.
