LGM Long Tube Headers

All of these installations are to be performed at your own risk!!!!

Step 2 (Removal of stock manifolds...cont'd):

Now you need to remove the coil packs.  These come off with the removal of five 10mm bolts on each one. You will also disconnect one white plug on each side that is located towards the top middle.

Now we need to loosen the drive belt to pull out the alternator.  To do this, put a 1/2" 15mm socket/wrench on the tensioner and then stand on the driver's side of the car.  Reach over and pull the socket wrench towards you.  With the tension released, gently slip the belt off of the alternator pulley and set to the side keeping the belt on the other pulleys so you won't have to re-route it later.

DOUBLE CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED FOR THIS NEXT STEP.  Disconnect the hot wire from your alternator by removing the 13mm nut under the boot on the back side and unplug the plug next to it.  Pull out the two 15mm long bolts securing the alternator to the alternator bracket.

Pry the alternator out at the top and then wiggle it out from the bottom once you remove the bolts.

Once the alternator is out you can start removing the SIX 10mm bolts that bolt the manifold to the head on each side. The back ones on each side are a little pita but are easily removed.  The front one on the driver's side can be a pita but can be achieved fairly easily with a 1/4" drive and socket.  The two rear bolts come out fairly easily if you use a 10mm wratcheting socket.  There is a hidden bolt under the air tube inlet on each side.  Before you pull the manifold out from the engine compartment you will need to unplug them from the front oxygen sensors.  Both of the manifolds pull out from the top.  When you remove the driver's side you want the pull the manifold forward and then tilt the back up to clear the fuel line and then pull it out.  The passenger side will come out in a similar fashion.

(This thing is little compared to the long tubes!)
