Whenever you do work on a ski it is good practice to bag and tag the pieces and bolts/nuts/washers that you take off. I use zip lock bags and a Sharpie marker. It is always a good idea to disconnect your battery before you do any of the work to your ski. Here we go:
First of all, remove your Stinger.
You may or may not need to remove your exhaust chamber. I had the exhaust chamber out on this person's ski for other work and it makes it much easier to work in the area. You can probably reach around the back and pull the pump out with no problem.
1.) Disconnect the oil feed lines from the carbs. There is one for each carb.
2.) Remove the 10 mm bolts that hold the oil pump to the case. Take apart the line that goes to the tank but leave a piece of hose around 8" long so you can drain the oil tank. There is a connector between the oil pump and where it attaches to the tank. Prepare to plug up that hose so you don't leak oil into the ski or you can just drain it at this time. I just place the hose in an empty Amsoil container and let it drain. It takes a little time for it to drain out. You may need to use a mirror to see the bolts. Disconnect the pump cable at the carbs.
3.) After the tank drains cap it off. I use the casing from a needle and seat. It fits perfectly and then you zip tie it so it stays on the spout. Also, cap off the oil ports on the carbs. These are capped by the rubber caps that come with the block off kit. Use the wire ties on these. You can see them in the second pic below. They are yellow and one is on each carb.
4.) Put the block off plate and the gasket on securing it with the supplied 5 mm bolts. Use removable thread locker on the bolt threads.
5.) Now we are going to have to make the ski think it has oil in it. Instead of soldering the supplied jumper we will take the oil sending unit out and fix this situation this way. The sender is located on top of the oil tank. Grab the sender and pull straight up. It should pull right out. When you have the sender out unplug it. The plug is located on the port side of the ski towards the front. Pull it all the way out of the ski. Now you can remove the filter around it to expose the floats. When you have the filter off you want to take a thick zip tie and hold the float up and put the zip tie below the float so it holds it up. This will trick the computer into thinking the ski has oil. Cut the zip tie excess and replace the filter.
6.) Replace the oil sending unit and plug it back in.
