Pump Shoe/Pump Plug Kit

This installation is to be performed at your own risk!!!!

Here is a basic list of tools you will need:

This is a very easy mod to do and it helps the ski to hook up better in the water by reducing cavitation.

First you must remove the intake grate.

1.)    You may or may not have to heat up the bolts but it is better to be safe than sorry.  I use a torch that I bought from Home Depot.  You can see it in the pic below.    You want to remove four 12 mm bolts.

This is a pic of the bolt being heated.

2.)  Turn the bolts slowly and steadily after being heated.  Remove the shoe.

3.)  Clean the shoe mating surfaces as best as you can and also inside of the voids.  Be careful not to damage the OEM black foam gasket towards the rear of the shoe.  Now check to make sure all of your plugs fit into the voids.  The shiny side goes up.

4.)  Put a small, I repeat small amount of 3M 5200 into each of the voids and carefully place plug in the correct way.  Clean up the excess silicone immediately with the acetone or brake cleaner and a rag.  Try not to get any of the chemical on the plugs.  In other words, don't hose it down with the cleaner.

4.)  After putting in all of the plugs fit the shoe to the grate to make sure it will fit and there is clearance.  Now apply a generous amount of silicone to the pump shoe mating surfaces and to the hull.  Clean your bolt threads and replace the shoe.  Make sure the shoe is aligned parallel with the drive shaft and push it towards the rear.  Use thread locker on the bolts and torque to 12 ft. lbs.

5.)  Fill the voids on the shoe and the gaps around the shoe with the 5200.  Make sure you smooth it out and clean up any excess silicone immediately.

6.)  Place some 5200 on the surface where the intake grate mates with the shoe and replace the intake grate using thread locker on the bolts.
