Hypertech Thermostat

All of these installations are to be performed at your own risk!!!!

EVIL TWIN from the Corvette Forum did an install very similar to this and this is probably how I got this info so credit should be given to him.

This is a very easy mod and can be done without draining your radiator in about 5 minutes.  Generally you will want to retune the computer to turn on your fans earlier so this is a good mod to do before a dyno tune.  If you live in a hot climate a lower temp thermostat is something good to have.  Since I live in Houston, it is a no brainer.

Tools:

Step 1:

Do not do this while your car is hot!  Squeeze in the clamp on your upper radiator hose and slide it back down the housing.  Pull hose away from the thermostat housing and either tuck it somewhere out of the way.  No water will spill out of thermostat because it should be closed if your engine is cold.

Step 2:

Prepare the new thermostat before removing the old one.  Place a small amount of grease around the o-ring and put it onto the new thermostat housing.  Using a 10mm socket, remove one of the bolts on the old thermostat.  Get some anti-seize on that bolt and have it near you.  Now, remove the other bolt.  Have the new thermostat in your other hand just in case the old one pops out when you remove the bolt.  Mine did not so once I got the 2nd bolt out I went ahead and put on anti-seize.  With the new one in one hand pull the old one out and immediately put the new one in.  You will lose some fluid here but not much.  Replace the two housing bolts and tighten to 11 ft./lbs.

Replace your hose and clamp and you are done!
