Running the wiring
Since I had the interior pulled for the deadening I decided to go ahead and run all of the wiring for the upcoming system even though it will be a while before I get all of the pieces. You have to think about where you are putting things so you know how much wire you need. Here is my list of wiring/accessories that I purchased:
Stinger 0 AWG power wire - 20 ft. (a little extra, may purch. more for Big 3)
Stinger 0 AWG ground wire - 6 ft (will have extra for big 3 upgrade)
Stinger 4 AWG amp power wire - 10 ft.
Stinger HPM twisted speaker wire - 12 gauge for components - 80 ft.
Stinger gold plated ground distribution block
12 gauge remote amp turn on lead
(2) Stinger Dream interconnects (these are bad ass looking) - 20 ft. each
This part of the project was pretty fun because if you have the interior out it is easy to do and you can run it in an organized way.
You can run the power from the battery though the grommet that the main harness goes through. I used 0 AWG and got it through pretty easily.
When connecting the ground block I ground down to bare metal on the chassis and once it was bolted I put a teflon grease all over the block to repel water. I drilled a wire through the back area at the bottom. You can access all of this area by removing a tail light and the license plate frame. There is a lot of room to work. I sealed the backside of the hole around the wire with roofing/flashing caulk.
